🌍 Commodities & Export
Martigane exports to West Africa (Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria, Ghana), Central Africa (Cameroon, Angola), the Maghreb (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia), the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait) and Southeast Asia for certain products. We also supply within the European Union on an intra-community basis.
We offer FOB (Free On Board — buyer handles sea freight), CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight — Martigane pays freight and insurance to destination port) and DDP (Delivered Duty Paid — all-inclusive turnkey delivery). CIF is most commonly used for Africa and the Middle East. Incoterms guide →
Yes. Halal certification is available on frozen meat and poultry (Brazilian IQF chicken — SISBRASIL, beef — CDH/CIBAL), vegetable oils (on request) and certain dairy products. For the Middle East and North Africa, we prepare all halal documentation required by the importing country.
❄️ Frozen — Fish & Seafood
Our wild-caught fish are available with MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certification for Alaska pollock, Pacific cod, Cape hake, yellowfin sole, rocksole and Atlantic redfish (Iceland). Farmed fish are available with ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) certification for trout (ASC Salmon Trout) and tilapia.
IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) freezes each piece separately at −40°C — each fillet is individually free, making portioning easy and better preserving texture. Block Frozen freezes multiple fillets together — less expensive but requires defrosting the whole block. In professional kitchens, IQF is preferred for flexibility; blocks are used for industrial processing.
Yes. Our Norwegian Atlantic salmon range includes whole Trim C/D/E fillets vacuum-packed (IVP) from 700g to 2400g, as well as individual IVP and IQF portions in 100g, 125g, 150g, 175g, 200g, 225g and 250g calibres. IQF portions allow you to take exactly the quantity needed without defrosting the whole case. View the product sheet →

📋 International Trade — MOQ, Incoterms, Payments
The MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) is the minimum order quantity accepted by a supplier for a given reference. At Martigane, the standard MOQ is one full pallet per reference for beverages and groceries (France/Belgium), and 12,500 metric tonnes for commodities sold by container or in bulk (sugar, oil, rice). For new clients, mixed pallets (several references on one pallet) can be offered to reduce the effective MOQ. Contact us to discuss an MOQ suited to your volume.
DLC (use-by date) is the date beyond which a perishable product should no longer be consumed for food safety reasons — distinct from the best-before date which applies to non-perishable products. At Martigane, all products delivered come with a guaranteed residual shelf life at delivery: minimum 12 months for milk powder and long-life dry products, minimum 24 months for frozen fish and meat provided the −18°C cold chain is respected. Each delivery comes with traceability documents (batch, production date, shelf life).
DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is the most comprehensive Incoterm for the buyer: the seller handles all transport, insurance, export AND import customs clearance, plus customs duties, to the agreed final destination. Martigane offers DDP for deliveries to the United Kingdom (D+3 from Lille), with all post-Brexit customs costs included in the price. This is the recommended formula for buyers wanting a turnkey solution without logistics management on their end.
CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) means the seller pays sea freight and insurance to the destination port — but risk transfers to the buyer once the goods are on board at the loading port, not on arrival. This is the Incoterm most used by Martigane for commodity exports (sugar, oil, rice, frozen meats) to West Africa, the Maghreb and the Middle East, as it considerably simplifies logistics on the buyer's side who doesn't always have an established maritime forwarder.
EXW (Ex Works) means the seller makes goods available at their own warehouse, and the buyer handles all transport, including export customs clearance. This Incoterm poses a major practical problem for foreign buyers: they generally cannot perform French export customs formalities themselves. Martigane systematically recommends FCA (Free Carrier) instead — same starting point, but the seller handles export clearance, avoiding administrative blockages for the buyer.
Lead times vary by transport mode and destination: France: D+1 from Lille · Belgium: D+1 · Netherlands & Germany: D+2 to D+3 · Spain & Italy: D+3 to D+4 · United Kingdom: D+3 (DDP, all costs included) · Morocco & Maghreb: 10 to 15 sea days · West Africa: 20 to 25 sea days (possible extension due to conflict surcharges or Red Sea detour) · Middle East: 25 to 35 sea days.
Since Brexit, any UK delivery requires a complete customs declaration. Martigane offers a full DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) solution: we handle all French and British customs formalities (UK EORI, import declaration, customs duties), with delivery in D+3 from Lille. The UK buyer receives their goods without any administrative steps on their end — all costs are included in our selling price, no surprises at delivery.
Halal certification is available on all our frozen meat and poultry (Brazilian IQF chicken — SISBRASIL certified, recognised in most sub-Saharan African and Middle Eastern countries; European beef and lamb — CDH or CIBAL certified depending on destination), as well as certain vegetable oils and dairy products on request. We systematically verify, before every shipment, that the certification presented is recognised by the destination country — a critical point to avoid customs blockages, particularly for Algeria where certification must come from the Grand Mosque of Algiers or an equivalent recognised body.
Depending on destination and product, we provide: commercial invoice (double or triple copy depending on country), packing list, EUR.1 certificate of origin (for ACP countries and EU-Maghreb association agreements), sanitary certificate issued by French veterinary services (DDPP) for animal products, phytosanitary certificate for plant products, halal certificate on request, insurance certificate under CIF, and bill of lading (B/L) for transport. The complete documentation file is prepared ahead of every shipment to avoid customs delays.
We accept three main instruments depending on client profile and transaction amount: Documentary Letter of Credit (LC/DLC) for new clients and large volumes, SBLC (Standby Letter of Credit) as a bank guarantee for regular commercial relationships, and bank transfer (TT) for established clients with a payment history. For B2B orders in France and Belgium, payment is generally made by transfer upon receipt of proforma invoice, with terms adapted to volume and relationship tenure.
The Documentary Letter of Credit is the most secure payment instrument for international trade: the buyer's bank irrevocably commits to paying the seller upon presentation of compliant documents (invoice, B/L, certificates), without depending on the buyer's direct solvency. To further secure the transaction, Martigane recommends an LC confirmed by a French bank — the French bank also commits to paying, independent of the foreign issuing bank. This is the reference payment instrument for our exports to Africa and the Middle East, and it is mandatory for most imports into Algeria.
This depends on the chosen Incoterm. Under CIF and CIP, Martigane takes out and includes insurance in the price — by default minimum coverage (ICC-C clauses, major risks only), but we strongly recommend all-risk insurance (ICC-A) for food products sensitive to transport damage (humidity, shocks), for a marginal extra cost of 0.1 to 0.3% of insured value. Under FOB, insurance is the buyer's responsibility from loading onward. Under DDP, insurance is systematically included in our all-inclusive price to final destination.
