The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) label is the global reference certification for sustainable fishing. It guarantees that the fish comes from a fishery managed to preserve stocks, minimise impact on the marine ecosystem and comply with local regulations. For B2B buyers, MSC is increasingly a requirement from major retailers, from contract caterers with sustainability commitments, and from organic and ethical channels.
Alaska pollock is the most fished species in the world by volume, at roughly 3 to 4 million tonnes a year. MSC certified since 2005, it is the reference fish of the global food industry: fish fingers, fish and chips, surimi, fish burgers. Its white, lean, bone-free flesh with a neutral taste makes it a universal ingredient, and the MSC logo on packaging is a direct commercial argument in retail.
Available as skinless fillets (120-170g, 170-230g, 230-300g) and skinless loins (80-120g, 100-120g, 120-140g, 140-160g). The loin is the thick dorsal section of the fillet without the thin tail, valued for fish and chips and for consistent portioning.
Namibian hake (Merluccius capensis) is caught in the cold, nutrient-rich waters of the South Atlantic. Its white, lean and delicate flesh is very close to European hake. Available as IQF fillets, individually quick frozen and separated, and as interleaved fillets, separated by a sheet of paper for easier defrosting one portion at a time.
MSC yellowfin sole (Limanda aspera) is fished in the North Pacific. Its fine, delicate white flesh recalls common sole at a considerably lower price. Available as skinless fillets (70-180g) and as white sides. The rolls filled with keta salmon reference works well for fine dining, offering an original presentation at controlled cost.
Icelandic redfish (Sebastes alutus), MSC certified, is a deep-water fish with thick, meaty and flavourful fillets. The flesh is lightly pink with a fine, slightly sweet taste, and it is particularly appreciated in Germany and Scandinavia. Our premium selection is the MSC Iceland skin-on 100-200g.
The choice is operational rather than a matter of quality. IQF lets you take exactly the number of fillets you need and return the rest to the freezer, which suits kitchens with variable covers. Interleaved gives flatter, better-protected fillets and easier separation when partly defrosted, which suits high-volume production where whole cases are used at once.
