Belgium remains in the EU: products compliant with European regulations circulate freely. The only major specificity: FR/NL bilingual labelling is mandatory for products marketed nationally. Martigane handles compliant NL over-labelling for its Belgian customers.
The most relevant Belgian distribution channels: Metro (cash and carry), Delhaize, Carrefour Belgium, Colruyt and HoReCa networks (out-of-home dining).
Since 1 January 2021, the UK is a third country. Exporting involves: customs export declaration (France) and import (UK), customs duties under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, UK Food Law and FSA compliance, specific labelling in British English with UK importer address and British EORI number.
For Belgium: Martigane delivers under DAP or DDP, all costs included to your warehouse. For the United Kingdom: DDP UK delivery available, Martigane handles all customs formalities on both sides of the Channel.
Many European suppliers abandoned the UK market post-Brexit. Distributors who maintained their presence today find less competition and better commercial margins.
