The word "Shokata" comes from Romanian: "Soc" means elderflower, from which the local traditional drink "Socata" (a natural elderflower lemonade) is made. By adding the word "shock" to convey the flavour intensity, Fanta created a name that perfectly summarises the experience: an explosion of sweet, floral elderflower balanced by the bright acidity of lemon.
Recognisable by its electric blue can — a unique colour in the Fanta range — Shokata has become an object of curiosity and desire on social media.
Fanta Shokata is very rarely distributed in standard French retail circuits. Specialist grocery stores that stock it attract customers who specifically seek it out. It is a high-footfall attraction product.
Position Fanta Shokata in a "world flavours" or "international beverages" section rather than the standard Fanta shelf. This positioning reinforces its premium image and justifies a slightly higher selling price (+15 to +25% vs Fanta Orange).
