Palm oil: the world's number one vegetable oil

With over 77 million tonnes produced annually, palm oil is the most consumed vegetable oil in the world. Indonesia and Malaysia alone account for 85% of global production. In Africa, palm oil is a staple cooking oil — as essential as sugar or flour — with local demand structurally exceeding continental production.

RBD Palm Oil: Refined, bleached, deodorised. Light yellow colour, neutral in taste. For direct consumption, industrial frying, biscuit-making and margarines. Export standard to West Africa and the Maghreb.
CPO (Crude Palm Oil): Unrefined, orange-red colour, rich in beta-carotene. Used by local refineries. Higher FFA content.

🌿 RSPO — The certification that opens markets

The RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certification is increasingly required by European buyers and some African countries. Martigane can source RSPO-certified palm oil from certified Malaysian and Indonesian producers, with Chain of Custody (CoC) certificate.

Palm oil bulk logistics

Palm oil transport requires specific logistics. At ambient temperatures below 25°C, palm oil solidifies (melting point: 33-39°C). Transport in flexi-tanks (flexible container liner inserted in a standard 20ft container, 20-tonne capacity) requires pre-heating on arrival.
